At a meeting on November 20 with CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov, the President of Belarus stated, in particular, the existence of a difficult period in the post-Soviet space. First of all, according to Alexander Lukashenko, it is characterized by some conflict situations, including in the sphere of responsibility of the organization.
At the same time, he made a positive assessment of the current situation in southern Central Asia, where it was possible to find solutions to a conflict that existed between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Referring to the situation surrounding the end of the confrontation between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the Head of State stressed that currently “we must think about the future, about how to organize the life of the two States there.”
When analyzing the causes of the conflicts that arose, the president made it clear that “in both cases the problems have been accumulating for more than a year, not two, not three, not five.” “These are long-standing weaknesses,” Lukashenko added. But in this sense there has been a positive trend, a movement, a tendency towards calming the situation in the post-Soviet space, the Belarusian leader summarized.
