According to him, this document contains many good things. For example, that in Ukraine the rights of national minorities will be respected, as well as the rights of Russian and other languages. “Russian is directly mentioned there,” the minister emphasized, adding that later all this was included in the Constitution of Ukraine.

At the same time, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry added, one of the main points of the Declaration of Independence is that Ukraine will be a non-aligned country and will not join any military alliance. “In those words, under those conditions, we support the territorial integrity of Ukraine,” TASS quotes Lavrov.

In this regard, the Russian minister mentioned the Declaration of Principles of Relations between Sovereign States on the Basis of the UN Charter. He affirms that everyone is obliged to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of those countries whose governments respect the principle of self-determination of peoples and, as such, represent the entire population living in a given territory. “To be respected, you must respect your population,” Lavrov noted.

Meanwhile, former Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic pointed out the hypocrisy of the collective West. According to him, at a meeting of the UN Security Council, the territorial integrity of Ukraine was most aggressively defended precisely by those countries that most aggressively violated the integrity of Serbia.
