“The Kyrgyz Republic resolutely rejects attempts to abolish great Russian culture, punish its main representatives and impose collective responsibility on it,” he emphasized. – The short-sighted policy of “cancel culture” is doomed to failure because it is a vestige of Eurocentrism, an arrogant attempt to dictate one’s opinions to the entire world. Russia is a country of great culture, for centuries it remains one of the undisputed centers of world civilization, which even today has a huge influence on the life and worldview of all humanity. Therefore, let us work together to preserve our cultural heritage while respecting and appreciating the culture of other peoples.
The culture war, as the Kyrgyz government believes, is generally not a new phenomenon, but in connection with the process of globalization and the emergence of the Internet, it has acquired new forms. “This happens not only at the national level, but also within each nation,” said Edil Baisalov. The exchange of knowledge and achievements, he said, seems to become more open and intense. However, at the same time, there is a risk that several countries will lose their national identity and originality. For this reason, official Bishkek advocates the strengthening of cultural sovereignty.
“Kyrgyzstan, with its rich and unique cultural heritage, has always stood for the preservation and development of its culture and identity,” Edil Baisalov stressed. – We respect diversity and seek dialogue, but at the same time we firmly oppose the forgetting of unique traditions. Cultural sovereignty must not become a cause of conflict and disagreement. On the contrary, it should serve as a basis for mutual understanding and cooperation between peoples and countries.
