Hotel admissions grew by 1.2% in August compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 46.7 million. Thus, traveler stays in hotel establishments are only 0.7% below the figures recorded in 2019, before the effects of the pandemic.

As for hotel prices, on the other hand, the rate at which they are becoming more expensive has slowed down, although they have continued to increase. This August was 6.3% more expensive than the previous one, 7 percentage points below the interannual rate set a year ago, but 0.1 points above that of the previous month.

The number of total overnight stays so far this year has been 8.8% higher than the sum of stays in hotel establishments in the first eight months of the previous year, and has also been above the 2019 figures, according to the data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) this Friday.
