Mexican director Guillermo del Toro, known for his films Pan’s Labyrinth and The Shape of Water, confirmed that he was working on a film about Jabba the Hutt from the Star Wars universe. He announced it on social media.
The filmmaker shared a fragment of an interview with screenwriter David Goyer for the Happy Sad Confused podcast. In it, Goyer admits that he and Del Toro were working on a project set in the world of Star Wars.
“It’s true. I can’t say much. Maybe two letters “J” and “BB,” or is it three letters? del Toro wrote, noting that these are events that took place “many, many moons ago…about six years or something like that.”
In 2015, del Toro mentioned that he liked the character of Jabba. He then said that he would like to make a movie about how he took power in the criminal world. As it turned out, this idea became a real project. According to Goyer, the filmmakers have almost finished the first draft of the script.
“Of course, later I had the opportunity to work on a virtual reality game about Vader, but it would be interesting to take Star Wars seriously. As for the Del Toro movie… There was a lot going on behind the scenes at Lucasfilm at the time,” Goyer said.
Previously Stephen King and Guillermo del Toro praised the new horror film “The Last Voyage of Demeter”, however, the film’s rating on Rotten Tomatoes remains at 38%, we tell you more about it here.
