Yolanda Díaz emphasizes the importance of the Inspection in the conditions of the delivery people. The second vice president of the Government and acting Minister of Labor has guaranteed strong actions to comply with the ‘Rider Law’. and she has stated that it is a rule that “is being complied with”, except in the case of “a rebellious company”, in reference to Glovo, although she has not mentioned its name.
In response to questions from the press during the Employment Summit being held in Santiago, Díaz made it clear that the Labor Inspection, which is “one of the best in the world”, “enjoys complete powers” and is acting with “toughness”, imposing sanctions, for which they have even received “a lot of criticism.”
Thus, he has warned that “there is no company that is above the law” and there is data on “how the weight of the law falls on a specific company”, in reference to Glovo, for “very serious infractions”, in addition to an “obstruction” of the Labor Inspection.
“In a democracy the principle of legality affects everyone equally,” Díaz warned in relation to a “very large multinational” that violates rights in the country.
